dec 21, 1620 - Puritan New England
Description:
Puritans left England in hopes to find a new land to freely express their beliefs after King Henry VIII broke away from Roman Catholicism. They founded many colonies that would soon become New England and the Plymouth Colony in 1620. They were very strict with their religious beliefs and tolerance. Another group of religious dissenters founded Rhode Island and were much more tolerant of different religious views.
