aug 4, 62 BC - Epistle to Pahoran

Description:

After the city of Nephihah was lost to the Lamanites Moroni again sent an epistle to Pahoran in Zarahemla. Moroni had thought that men had been sent to secure Nephihah, and so he wrote to chastise Pahoran and the people for neglecting the army.
Moroni's epistle is a wonderful letter that shows plainly his character and his love for his country. After chastising Pahoran he demands that help be sent. He then says that if the people in government would not support the army in defending the people than he (Moroni) would lead his armies into Zarahemla, collecting all the patriots he could along the way, and destroy the government, setting up a new government that would defend the people.

Pahoran's answer is one of the greatest in scripture.
He writes back and tells Moroni that he has been deposed and that the Kingmen have taken over the government. He, himself, was in Gideon, collecting as many faithful Nephites as would come to his assistance.
But I think the greatest part was his reply to Moroni's threat to come in and destroy the government. He writes that he was not sure what to do, as he was not sure if going into battle against other Nephites was justified. But after receiving Moroni's letter he was not only willing, but anxious for him to come and go against the kingmen that he could be restored to the Judgment seat.
