Description:
Moroni's main objective on leaving Zarahemla was the retaking of the City of Nephihah. However, as he and Pahoran lead their armies toward that city they were met by a large army of the Lamanites.
In the ensuing battle the Nephites were victorious, killing many Lamanites and taking many prisoner.
Many of these prisoners took an covenant of peace, and they were released to go and join the people of Ammon, who welcomed them without question into their community.
While it is likely that other prisoners taken at other times were allowed to join the People of Ammon, this is the only direct reference to such taking place.
