oct 7, 1763 - Road to Revolution Proclamation of 1763

Description:

In 1763 following the French and Indian War, the Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued October 7, 1763, by King George III . The intent of the proclamation was to placate the Indians from colonist intrusions on their land. The proclamation forbade any settlement west of the Appalachian Divide by the colonists, and did not allow colonial citizens/governments to buy land or make agreements with natives. Britain was tightening control of colonies expansion. Colonists were greedy for good farmland and angry at the royal restrictions set on trade and migration started defiance towards the King.
