may 5, 63 BC - Siege of Cumeni

Description:

Knowing that they were an insufficient force to take the city of Cumeni by force, Helaman resorted to a siege. He had his armies surround the city and just waited it out.

The Lamanites did send a supply of provisions, but they were intercepted by the Nephites. Many were killed. Others were taken prisoner and sent to Zarahemla. The provisions were taken by the Nephites to support their armies.

The Lamanites in the city held out as long as they could. But they were running out of food, and they could tell that the Nephites had taken the provisions that had been sent.
So, having maintained the city as long as they could, the Lamanites surrendered the city without a fight. They were likely to weak to put up much resistance.
