Despite Simón's best attempts to keep the heavily divided party together until the elections, the Aridite Freedom Party is officially disbanded and split up. Because the break-up happens only two days from the elections, many people are not informed of the AFP's break-up and end up voting for a disbanded party, and their votes are therefore disregarded. Simón announces he will retire from politics but is convinced to join one of the fractured parties as a spokesperson.
