nov 1, 1620 - Pilgrims Land

Description:

Around 100 people seeking religious freedom set sail from England on the Mayflower in September of 1620. After a 65 day voyage, they landed the shores of Cape Cod. The pilgrims called this Plymouth Harbor. More than half of the english settlers died in the first winter, Native American Chiefs taught the Pilgrims how to plant corn and use the land to survive. In the fall of 1621 the Pilgrims shared a meal with the Pokanokets which is considered the basis for Thanksgiving.
