The Salem Witch Trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people being accused of witchcraft in the providence of Massachusetts Bay. They began when a group of young girls were supposedly possessed by the devil and called out a wave of townspeople that were “working with the devil”. Over 200 people were accused and about 20 were executed.
