About 100 people set sail in September of 1620 to seek religious freedom in the New World. These people were known as Pilgrims and they traveled on the Mayflower. The voyage took about 65 days of uneasy seas and storms. They first landed on the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and later formed their first permanent settlement in Plymouth Harbor as English colonists.Added to timeline:
