jan 1, 1938 - 1938 - The Metis Population Betterment Act Was Created.
Description:
The Metis Population Betterment Act, passed by Alberta's government, was a result of the lobbying campaigns of the L'Association de Metis de l'Alberta et des Territoires du Nord-Ouest. This organization lobbied Alberta's government to set aside land for the Metis. This land was used to create twelve temporary Metis settlements. The picture below shows the pieces of land Alberta's government gave the Metis, and some of the people that comprised L'Association de Metis de l'Alberta et des Territoires du Nord-Ouest.
