Description:
The United States government funded the Transcontinental Railroad in the late 1800s. It ran from Omaha, Nebraska to the San Francisco Bay, and in doing so united the American people. It made trade more efficient across the nation and allowed for expedited westward expansion. The United States employed thousands of Chinese workers in the construction of the railroad, and passed the Chinese Exclusion Act shortly after their labor wsa no longer needed.
