mar 4, 1933 - Roosevelt's First Election
Description:
Roosevelt was elected during the Great Depression. The reigning president, Herbert Hoover, lost popularity after clubbing and forcibly removing U.S. veterans from their Hooverville in front of the White House in what was known as the Bonus War. Roosevelt created 14 new federal agencies in his first year of office, using legislative policies to provide immediate relief, aid businesses and farms in recovery, reform the economic system to prevent future collapses, and unite the American people.
