sep 21, 1866 - Buffalo Soldiers

Description:

The 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States’ Army, nicknamed the “Buffalo Soldiers” by Native American fighters in the Indian War, was America’s first all-black regiment. Despite facing segregation and racism during their time in the military, they fought for the Union in the hopes that they would receive freedom in exchange for their service. They paved the way for black regiments to serve in both world wars.
