feb 3, 1870 - Fifteenth Amendment
Description:
The Fifteenth Amendment granted African-American men the right to vote. After its ratification, the only group unable to vote were women. Despite this amendment, local governments, especially in the South, passed Jim Crow laws such as the Grandfather Clause, poll, ad property taxes to stop African-Americans from voting.
