Description:
After leaving the city of Ammoniah in such an embarrassing retreat, the Lamanites Captains swore an oath to attack the City of Noah instead. But when they got there they found that Noah had better defenses than Ammoniah. Still, they had made an oath, and so they attacked.
Moroni had caused a large ditch to be dug around the city, and the dirt to be cast up as a large embankment to form a wall. There one a single gate that entered into the city, but it was well guarded.
The Lamanites first attacked the gate, but found that they were too open to attack from the guards on top.
They then tried to dig the embankment down, refilling the ditch. But again, the arrows and slings from above killed them too fast, and the ditch was filled with bodies rather than dirt.
The Lamanites continued to fight until all their captains had been killed. At that point the rest of the army fled into the wilderness and brought the news back to Amalikiah.
In the action over 1,000 Lamanites were killed, but not a single Nephite (though 50 were wounded).
At receiving this news Amalikiah was enraged and swore that he would drink the blood of Moroni.
