Description:
After he had established himself as King of the Lamanites, Amalikiah, being a flattering man, convinced the Lamanites to go to war with the Nephites. He placed Zoramites as captains of his armies, and sent them north, into the Lands of the Nephites.
The last time the Lamanites had any real success against the Nephites had been the sacking of the city of Ammoniah. As the city had recently been rebuilt, at least in part, and as it was an easy prey in the past, the Lamanites captains went there first, hoping to please their king with an easy victory.
However, Moroni had been preparing the people and had built fortifications around the city. So, when the Lamanites arrived they found a well defended city, with defenses that no one had ever seen among the descendants of Lehi.
After some consultation the Lamanite Captains agreed to leave the city and find a different place to begin their invasion.
