1. From this text we learn that Emma's mother died and her older sister got married and left
2. Emma living with her father.
3. Emma was handsome, clever and rich with a comfortable home and happy disposition.
4. Emma and miss Taylor were more friends than Taylor being a governess. She and Emma's were close and she had almost taken the place of a sister.
5. Emma was suddenly left to herself and her father because Miss Taylor got married.
She was sad about the news however she felt positive feelings towards her close friend getting married.
6. This extract tell us that women was married at a young age and their significant other was the front of how they acted. For example Jane Austen wrote “it was true that her friend was going only half a mile from them; but Emma was aware that great must be the difference between a Mrs Weston only half a mile from them, and a miss Taylor in the house: and with all her advantages, natural and domestic.”
