jul 2, 1964 - Civil Rights Act of 1964

Description:

The Civil Rights Act was a complete overhaul of civil rights legislation in America. The act need Jim Crow policies and gave equal rights and sought to give equal opportunities to minorities and women in America. It was passed under President Johnson but John F. Kennedy was the first president to propose the act. It was a major success for civil rights leaders all across America but it did not solve all racial discrimination. Many African Americans were still paid less and treated poorly especially in the South.
