jan 1, 1830 - Indian Removal Act

Description:

Act signed by Andrew Jackson that forced Native Americans to move from East of the Mississippi river to west of the river. This showed Americans’ negative attitude towards Native Americans in general and showed that they were willing to use force to move them off their land. Ever since Bacon’s rebellion, Americans had a hostile attitude to Native Americans, and the Indian Removal Act shows the culmination of that.
