jan 1, 1773 - Tea Act

Description:

The Tea Act was an act that gave British East India Company a monopoly on tea, which angered many colonists. This especially angered the colonial merchants, who saw this as a way for Parliament to destroy their livelihood. This anger eventually erupted into the Boston Tea Party, which showed that Americans were willing to destroy British goods and materials to protest their increased authority of the colonies.
