apr 21, 1649 - Toleration Act

Description:

The Toleration Act allowed people in Maryland to worship whichever denomination of Christianity they wished. While this act did not guarantee full religious freedom to all, it marks the first instance of religious freedom being seen in America. This would play an important role in the ratification of the Constitution, as it was the first amendment in the Bill of Rights.
