jul 18, 75 BC - Korihor

Description:

Another Anti-Christ that came among the people. He was a basic atheist who preached that God did not exist, Christ would not come, there was no life after death, and so this life and how well we fair is all up to us.

He began to preach in Zarahemla, and he soon had quite a bit of success. So he decided to try preaching in Jershon to the People of Ammon. However, the people of Ammon bound him and cast him out, not wanting to here such false ideas. This was done under the leadership of Ammon, who was High Priest over that people.

So he next went to Gideon. Here the High Priest was a man named Giddonah. So, when Korihor started preaching the people took him before Giddonah and the Chief Judge (who is unnamed). They questioned him, and when he answered them with boldness they gave no reply.
Instead they bound him and took him before Alma, as High Priest over all the church, and Nephihah, being the Chief Judge over all the Land.

He again withstood Alma with boldness, demanding a sign as proof of God's existence. Alma refused, but said that it was up to God to give him a sign. At this God struck him dumb. He may also have been struck deaf as they wrote messages to him, and he wrote back.
He acknowledge his doctrine was false and begged for the curse to be taken from him, but Alma again refused, saying that it was also in God's hands.

The curse was not taken away and Korihor wandered the Land for a short while until he came to the Land of Zoram. The Zoramites were an apostate group that had separated from the Nephites.
While among the Zoramites the records states that he was trodden upon that he died.
