Description:
Four years after destroying the Amlicites and repulsing the Lamanites, Alma found that the people had begun to grow in their wickedness. It grieved him to see this trend even in the church.
To fight this trend Alma gave up the judgment seat, which he had filled for 8 years.
Alma retained his position as High Priest in the church and devoted the rest of his life to preaching the gospel and putting the various branches of the church in order.
Nephihah was personally chosen by Alma to succeed him in the Judgment Seat, and was accepted by the people. Prior to this Nephihah had been an Elder in the church and was a just man.
Nephihah remained the Chief Judge until his death in 67, a period of about 16 years.
