The Spanish American war was a war that was fought in Cuba and the Philippines, with the Spanish on one sides of the war, and the Cubans and Americans on the other. The war between the Cubans and the Spanish had been going on for two years but the Americans decided to intervene to protects their business interests in Cuba. The United States and Cuba eventually prevailed but the Cubans and many others resented the American military for getting involved with the war and thought it was America being imperialistic. The Spanish American war was the war the catapulted America into global issues and made them more involved and sometimes intrusive regarding global issues.Added to timeline:
