apr 14, 1865 - Lincoln Assasination
Description:
Abraham Lincolns assassination happened at Ford’s Theater, just three days after the Confederacy surrendered and the war was effectively over. A Confederate sympathizer named John Wilkes Booth shot and killed Lincoln while he was watching a play. Booth went on the run for 11 days until he was found and killed by a Union soldier. The assassination dealt a major blow to unity because Lincoln was the most prominent figure fighting for harmony across the nation. Lincoln was also an extremely effective leader and his charisma was missed after his assassination.
