nov 29, 1665 - Last outbreak of the Bubonic Plague

Description:

Note: not technically the last outbreak. The 'Modern Plague' killed like 10 million people. However, for our purposes, here is the Great Plague:

In 1665, another outbreak of the bubonic plague occurred. It began in London, and made its way around the city extremely rapidly. 15% of London's population died in one summer. It quickly spread to other parts of England, oftentimes because rich people tried fleeing the outbreak and ended up bringing it with them. The outbreak ended fairly quickly and did not spread significantly to the rest of Europe. The year after, the Great Fire of London occurred. Two back-to-back disasters in two years stunted England's economy and this in some part led to the Glorious Revolution.
