jan 1, 1836 - Texas War of
Independence
Description:
At first, the Mexicans easily crush the Texans. However, the Texans are able to hit a major turning point with the Battle of the Alamo, a mission in San Antonio Texas. Here, 200 Texans were able to fight 4,000 Mexicans, killing 1,500 of them before the Texans fell. These men may have died, but they became martyrs and inspired the Texans to win the war. The final major battle was the Battle of San Jacinto. Here, the Texans used the cry of “Remember the Alamo” to inspire their troops to victory. The Texans beat the Mexicans, kidnap the governor of Mexico, Santa Ana, and force him to sign a treaty for independence. Mexico disputes this treaty, claiming that the border is the Neuncase River, while the Texans claim that it's the Rio Grande.
