mar 25, 77 BC - Anti-Nephi-Lehies flee
Description:
The attacks of the Lamanites, and their preparations, were sufficiently damaging to prompt Ammon to plead with Anti-Nephi-Lehi to take his people to safety among the Nephites. The people agreed to go only after the Lord commanded them.
Even though the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi were willing to be slaves to the Nephites, the Nephites welcomed them as equals, giving them the land of Jershon as their inheritance.
Also, to allow them to honor the oath they had made to never kill again the Nephites exempted them from military service, on the condition that they would pay a portion of their produce and money to support the army, in place of sending men to serve.
This was readily agreed to.
