Description:
The year after the King died the unconverted Lamanites, being led in their anger by the Nephite dissenters, attacked the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi.
In this combat the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi refused to defend themselves, but instead knelt and prayed for those who were killing them. In this massacre 1,005 were killed.
However, when the Lamanites witnessed their determination not to fight many were touched by their faith and withdrew from killing them. Many joined them in prayer, and on that day more joined the faithful than had been killed.
