mar 15, 145 BC - Third Lamanite Attack

Description:

After the army of King Noah failed to destroy Alma and his righteous followers the people of Zeniff became divided, with a large minority turning against the king.
From among these people there appears the man Gideon. In his anger he went to kill King Noah. The King retreated to the watch tower that Zeniff had built. From there he saw the Lamanites on the march to attack the people.

He begged Gideon to spare his life so that he might lead the people. When Gideon consented the King ordered all the people to flee into the wilderness. He later ordered them to leave their wives and children behind, as they would slow down their flight.
Most of the people refused to do so, but rather turned to surrender and beg mercy of the Lamanites. They sent their daughters out front, and these young women succeeded in pacifying the Lamanites.
Noah's son Limhi was chosen as the new king and the people began to live under the bondage of the Lamanites, paying one half of their increase each year as tribute.
