@mentions are an easy way to draw someone’s attention to a comment within a Blog Post comment or Social recognition feed, as mentions generate alerts to tell people they've had a shout out and re-engages them with the content. The writer will @mention the coworker, which will in turn hyperlink their name and provide a link to the person’s profile page.
