Description:
Mayflower ship = pilgrims + strangers who wanted to go separate ways after landing. They agreed to unite as one body, submitting to government and governors. Willam Bradford, among many, codified the rules of Plymouth colony. The first page referred to the compact as "a solemn and binding combination because it was struck upon the vote of the governed."
