apr 17, 590 BC - Voyage Begins

Description:

The voyage was likely begun in the spring of the year 590. The reason for this is the great storm that drove them off course when Laman and Lemuel tried to take over. This likely occurred as they rounded the southern tip of Africa, an area known for the violence of its storms, especially in the summer months.

So, they set sail in early spring, reaching the southern tip in early summer. Laman and Lemuel rebel and a storm whips up in response to this. They are driven off course for four days, at which time Laman and Lemuel repent.
The storm has now driven the ship out of the area of the southern tip of Africa and the storm dies out, allowing them to continue across the vast expanse of the Atlantic.
