Nephi and his brothers return for the brass plates. The journey back would have been a few days, and they likely hid out after fleeing Jerusalem before returning to their father.
I show here approximately when they would have first been commanded to return. Listing this in July means that they would have made it back to their father in late August or early September of that year.
