oct 24, 1929 - Great Depression

Description:

The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from October 24, 1929 when the stock market on Wall Street crashed until 1939. It occurred after consumer spending began to slow down, but the price of stocks kept rising. Some may also say that Europe's struggle to pay war debts and reparations from World War I also caused the Great Depression. At one point during the Great Depression, more than one quarter of the U.S. workforce could not find jobs because so many businesses had closed.
