The cotton gin, patented on March 14, 1794, was a machine created by Eli Whitney to rapidly speed up the process of removing seeds from the cotton fiber. This machine revolutionized farming in America by allowing farmers (specifically Southern farmers) to turn arid land into a very good profit. The cotton gin allowed farmers to process cotton faster.
