Description:
She born a slave and was one of the most famous conductors of the railroad. She had escaped with her two brothers from the plantation they were bought for on September 17, 1849 but the brothers changed their minds and went back. She found work in Philadelphia but she still returned many times to try and help her other family members escape either further north or to Canada. Throughout the next few years, Harriet Tubman establishes her own railroad network and continues to bring slaves to freedom.
