Description:
Hawaiian farmers lost millions of dollars from this eruption. The toxic gases from the volcano have been killing the crops. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Hawaii is now a designated natural disaster zone. Because of this declaration farmers can now apply for low interest loans from the government. The large amounts of sulfur dioxide coming from Kilauea's crater is destroying the vegetation. This eruption has cost up to 5 million dollars of damage so far.
