apr 12, 1927 - Shanghai Massacre

Description:

The Shanghai Massacre took place after the Kuo Mintang and the Communist Party defeated the warlords and arrived in Shanghai. Jiang Jieshi had decided to turn on the communists, so he commanded the Kuo Mintang soldiers to surround Shanghai, then they slaughtered the communist soldiers, including many Communist Party leaders. The Shanghai Massacre nearly wiped out the whole Communist Party.
The Shanghai Massacre was important because it sparked great hatred in the communists towards the Kuo Mintang. Before the Shanghai Massacre, the Communist Party and the Kuo Mintang were getting along well during the Northern Expedition and working together peacefully. If the Shanghai Massacre did not happen, then the Communist Party and the Kuo Mintang might have settled their differences peacefully instead of a civil war. Without the Shanghai Massacre, the later events in China might have been very different since without the massacre, the Chinese Civil War might not have happened.
