jan 21, 1793 - Execution of Louis XVI

Description:

When the revolution was reaching its peak, and the rising hate for counterrevolutionaries and the monarchy, the execution of the King became inevitable. Louis XVI was put on trial and condemned for crimes against the state, and met his end to the ultimate revolutionary weapon: the Guillotine. His wife Marie Antoinette followed him to the chopping block nine months later, with much less dignity.
