mar 2, 1804 - Cheng Yih attacks the Portugueseq
Description:
Cheng Yih was the son of a pirate who had operated in Vietnamese waters. He had married and taken control of the smaller pirate fleets, his power growing as he moves East. He blockades the Portuguese trading port for 2 months, and defeats a squadron trying to break the blockade. This prompts Britain to intervene, and the royal navy began to guide ships through the Chinese coast.
In 1805 he forms a pirate confederation, uniting the pirates on the coast into one empire. He divides them into 6 fleets: black, white, red, blue, green, yellow. He gave them each an area to operate in, ensuring that they would not turn on each other.
In 1807 he diedwith 1200 junks and 150k men, the biggest pirate fleet in the world. The protection money they demanded ensured that the Manchu government would not have been able to suppress pirates. It is rumored that his wife Lady Cheng may have killed him.
