black death meant less labor, high demand for labors, lower supply

peasants wanted higher wages, nobles did not want that

nobles tried to freeze wages, preventing social mobility

so serious because peasants wanted money/social mobility that ruling class did not want to give

Preacher John Ball fired up peasants
destroyed houses, killed nobles etc.
Richard II (ruled 1377-1399) met with rebellion leaders “agreed to charter ensuring peasants’ freedom, tricked them with false promises and then crushed the uprising with terrible ferocity”
