13h 19min, oct 4, 1944 y - Alternate timeline passage five

Description:

One night in the middle of one of his performances at the lounge, three men walked in and went directly to the bar. Willie didn’t notice, as he was busy playing the piano, but as he finished his set and proceeded to walk to the back in order to change, he caught a glimpse of Jacob Grimsley at the bar, accompanied by two men he had never seen before. Willie put his head down and dramatically increased his pace, but it was in vain as at that exact moment Jacob announced to his friends that he needed to use the restroom and stood up directly in front of Willie. “Willie!” exclaimed Jacob. “So good to see you. How is teaching at Rutgers? What brings you here?”. He seemed oddly curious and aggressive. “Rutgers is great” Willie quickly spit out, before trying to leave. Jacob, who was considerably taller and more muscular than Willie, sidestepped to prevent Willie from leaving. “That’s interesting,” Jacob continued, “because I have a colleague who teaches biology at Rutgers. I asked him if he knows you, and he said no, but this is understandable, because you work in completely separate departments. But, when I visited one day when I happened to be in town, I asked him to help me find your office, only to find out that there is no record of any Willie Keith ever having worked at Rutgers University. So, seeing as you clearly don’t work there and you very likely don’t have a PhD, and since you’re by yourself, I ask you again, what brings you here?” Willie stood in place for what seemed like ages, staring at his sneering face. Willie was embarrassed and he was angry, and he couldn’t think of any words to say to defend himself, so before he knew what he was doing he punched Jacob directly in the face . As Jacob fell, his nose broken and covered in blood, his two friends attacked Willie, shoving him to the ground and kicking him repeatedly. As Jacob got up, he told them to stop, and as they walked away, Willie still lying on the ground, without looking back, he said “I guess we were right about you Willie.”
