mar 13, 479 BC - Battle of Plataea

Description:

Final major battle of the Persian Wars. Greece gathers a huge army that is led by Sparta. Persia was across the river while Greece was on a hill. Both were in a defensive position. The Greeks used tactics to win. They started by faking a retreat and started marching away. Persia used that and crossed the river. Greece turned back around and attacked Persia who were now at a disadvantage. Persia was on bad terrain and on low ground. Greece forces Persia out of Attica. Small battles happen to get rid of any remaining Persians. Persia never tries to invade again.
