mar 1, 1800 - The Louisiana Purchase Key Concept 4.3,I & II

Description:

During Jefferson’s tenure as the 3rd president, he kept much of Hamilton’s system except for excise tax, reduced debt, and balanced the budget, he also did somethings could be deemed unconstitutional had more rules been written in the constitution. But more importantly he bought Louisiana from Napoleon for $15 million so that the American population had room to grow and to weaken France’s influence in America. Jefferson’s display of power as the president, such as purchasing land, was unheard of and raised some eyebrows since it was uncertain whether his actions were unconstitutional or not.
