feb 10, 1788 - Constitution Ratified

Description:

The new constitution that was drafted at the Constitutional Convention required ratification by nine states after the approval. States held ratifying conventions and elected delegates based on their views towards the new Constitution. The Federalists, led by James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, more strongly supported the ratification of the new Constitution and wrote the Federalist Papers. The Federalist Papers was a collection of essays on why ratification of the new Constitution would benefit the states and led to the conversion of many states and ultimately the ratification of the new Constitution.
