4h 37min, apr 23, 1781 y - Articles of Confederation

Description:

After becoming independent, the colonies decided there was a lack of structure within the states. The Articles of Confederation was in a sense a “firm league of friendship” that unified the states and made laws and changes more systematic. The Articles of Confederation declared a unicameral legislature with a single house congress. Each state was granted one vote, with nine votes required to pass a law. To pass an amendment, a unanimous decision must have been reached. The most major setback of the Articles was that there was no executive or judicial branch, so there really was no way to balance out the government. Key Concept 3.2.11
