4h 37min, jul 4, 1776 y - Declaration of Independence

Description:

Since the British government was still more involved in the New World than the settlers wanted, they decided the draft a document that declared their independence from any other government other than their own. The document stated that the colonies were independent and free states and was drafted by a committee of five. The committee of five included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, and Thomas Jefferson, who was chose to draft the final copy of the Declaration of Independence. The document was influenced largely by John Locke’s views of social construct and natural rights. The signing of the document took place on July 4, 1776 and America was henceforth a free state.
