Description:
After hearing about how so many people were able to go to the New World and start new lives, a group of Separatists decided to board the Mayflower and sail to the Virginia colony. The Separatists were a group of Puritans who had renounced the Anglican church and wished to start their own religion. They received permission from the king to settle in Virginia, and then boarded the Mayflower in 1620. The Separatists missed Virginia and instead landed in Plymouth Bay. They made friendly relations with the Wampanoags, who taught the settlers how to grow crops and support themselves. Key Concept 2.1.11
