Description:

William Tomison choose the location of Fort Edmonton at the junction of North Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Rivers. It was close to the North West Company’s post, Fort Augustus. The availability of furs made these sites very profitable and in 1830, Fort Edmonton was relocated upstream.
